WHAT TO WEAR
Most people get all worked up over what to wear, but really it’s quite simple. These are black and white portraits and that actually makes it easier as we are dealing with tones rather than matching colors. You will be photographed on a custom painted dark gray and darker gray sponge textured background, therefore we suggest you bring dark clothing so that your skin tones can be the highlights in the portrait. A few different outfits are also recommended, and don’t worry, there is a private bathroom for you to change in to. Maybe even bring a few lighter shades just to really up the variety game. The idea is to have the tones match. So if you and your child are opposite tones the photo will look a bit off. Make sense? Great, now lets move on…
HOW TO PREPARE FOR YOUR PORTRAIT SESSION
In terms of preparation we suggest a few things…
Don’t Stress Out! If you stress out, your kids stress out and that is no good for anyone. The idea is to enjoy each others company and celebrate the bond between you.
Offer Rewards – Kids aren’t always willing to cooperate, but sometimes a little reward will go a long way. A few different ideas include buying a special toy after the session or going out for a nice meal or ice cream. Just something to let your child know how special the session is to you as and how much you appreciate their cooperation.
Favorite Things – If you’ve got young ones that have special items that they’d like to bring to the session be sure to pack those as well. Really young kids have a hard time focusing and sometimes it helps to have something the photographer can rattle around near their camera to get their attention.
INSIDE THE STUDIO
In this case a photo is better than words. As you can see, we have some nice lighting, a few posing stools, the above mentioned painted background, some posing boxes and a nice white chair with a fluffy rug for the little ones. Oh, and some samples all around the studio. Alexa and a custom studio playlist helps to get the party started.
THE PRODUCTS

In the below photo you will find printed 8″x12″ matted prints, a 30″x30″ wall art collage that includes 11 images from your session, a portrait box with your choice of 10 or 15 matted prints, and 5″x7″ or 8″x12″ albums. The portrait box also comes with an easel to display one of your favorites from the session. We include digital files in some of our packages, but are also available to purchase al a carte.
